Photos you analyse on this site

When you use the food photo tool, the image is sent from your browser to our server and forwarded to Google’s Gemini model, which returns an estimate of the food, its calories and its macros. That estimate is sent back to your browser and shown to you.

We do not write the image to disk, we do not keep a copy after the response is returned, and we do not associate it with you. Google processes the image under its own terms as our processor. If you would rather a photo of your meal never left your device, do not use the tool.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people actually read. It sets cookies and records the usual things: the page requested, roughly where in the world you are, the browser you use. It is not tied to a name or an email, because we do not collect either.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, so no names, emails or passwords.
• No payment details. Nothing on this site is paid.
• No stored photos and no stored analysis history.
• No selling or sharing of data with advertisers.

The iOS app

The Avocal app is a separate product from this website. What it collects is described in its App Store privacy label and in the policy shown inside the app. Where the two differ, the app’s own policy governs the app.

Your rights

Because we hold no account data, there is normally nothing to export or delete. You can clear analytics cookies from your browser at any time. If you believe we hold something about you and want it removed, write to us and we will deal with it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, because we do not have your address.
